I am writing to you with grave concern. As we navigate an era of unprecedented technological shift, I am compelled to address the destabilizing impact of unregulated artificial intelligence and social media. The integrity of our democratic institutions now depends on our ability to govern these digital frontiers. I urge Congress to establish a rigorous regulatory framework that prioritizes the safety of the American public over the profits of tech conglomerates through the following mandates:

(1) Social media platforms must no longer be passive observers of the erosion of truth. Congress must mandate:

 - Active Content Moderation – direct requirements for platforms to actively identify and eliminate both misinformation and disinformation.

 - Political Bot Neutralization  –  a total ban on the use of automated accounts for political activity. By eliminating synthetic interference, we ensure that the digital landscape of American politics is defined by the authentic voices of living citizens rather than programmed scripts.

 - Strict Liability – the imposition of significant civil penalties or criminal liability for platforms that fail to exercise due diligence in securing their ecosystems and complying with these mandates.

(2) To address the widening gap between AI capabilities and current law, I advocate for a transition toward proactive transparency. This shift is essential for lawmakers to exercise informed and effective governance over emerging technologies. I propose a mandatory reporting structure for all US AI developers:

 - Comprehensive Disclosure – annual reports to Congress, and supplemental filings within 90 days of any product release, detailing all foreseeable capabilities and systemic risks.

 - Public Accountability – all above reporting must be made accessible to the public to ensure broad-based oversight.

 - Enforcement – stringent criminal and financial penalties for companies that obscure risks or fail to comply with transparency standards.
